Cultivators

Tine Cultivators

Our range of tine-based and combination cultivators is designed to help you achieve efficient soil preparation and weed control at varying depths and soil conditions. By incorporating advanced tine technologies and robust frame constructions, these implements ensure proper seedbed formation, moisture conservation, and residue management.

Heavy Spring Tine Cultivators

Coil tines or Leaf tines
These heavy duty 3 bar frames carry either 25mm square double coil tines, which are ideal for stubble cultivations and general seedbed work, or double leaf ripper tines, which are more suited to deeper primary cultivations. Leaf tines produce a coarser finish than double coil tines. Coil tines take 1½”, 2″, 2½” or 3″ wide points (1½” standard). Rigid models have cat.2/cat.3 linkage. Folding models have cat.3/cat.4N linkage.

Surface Primary Seedbed Cultivator

Based on the agronomic need for healthy crops, whilst controlling weeds, this innovative tine based cultivator rapidly prepares seedbeds to 5cm depth.

Central and rear ballastable rollers allow for precise depth control while reconsolidating to conserve moisture and optimise weed seed and volunteer germination.

The tines can be raised from work allowing the machine to function as a seedbed press which is ideal for rolling after strip till type drills. The surface will also work and level ploughed soils both pre and post winter on all soil types making it a truly versatile machine.

A power requirement of just 45-50hp per metre width allows for smaller cultivation tractors to be used reducing soil compaction, capital costs and fuel consumption.

High work rates concentrate crop residues in the soil surface to protect soils from wet weather events and optimise the late drilling opportunities required for the control of black grass. Ideal for preparing both Autumn and Spring seedbeds ahead of most cultivator disc, tine & strip till drills.

Surface Pro Cultivator

Primary Seedbed Cultivator

Using the successful features of our Surface Cultivator, the Surface Pro rapidly prepares a seedbed to 5cm depth, whilst optimising weed, seed and volunteer germination.

Features

Norfolk Cultivator

The ‘Norfolk’ Cultivator is a heavy duty tined, general purpose cultivator. Uses include primary tillage direct into stubble etc. and deep loosening of ploughed work in the Autumn. It has also been used successfully in the Spring to loosen and aerate the ground prior to forming beds and de-stoning for potatoes. It is also ideal for cross dragging destoned potato land and after harvest to remix the stones and help prepare a seedbed for the following crop.

The machine comprises of a 3 bar frame made from 150 x 100 x 10mm box section and fitted with heavy duty rigid steel tines. Each tine is held to the frame in a moveable bracket. The tine is shear bolt protected. Points are reversible. A pair of 610mm x 200mm (24″ x 8″) steel depth wheels are fitted as standard.

The heavy build of this machine, along with the correct angle of point penetration and the upright nature of the tine stem ensure a consistent working depth, with good soil mixing and breaking effect. Increased clod reduction and moisture retention is achieved by adding the optional rear attachment Razor Rings (@ 200mm) Toothed Packer, 24″ Crumbler Barrel or 24″ Solid Coil. Cat II & Ill linkage standard. Special linkage settings on request.

Our successful Level Lift Subsoiler Legs can be fitted to this frame and used in conjunction with the Cultivator Tines, to make this a truly versatile implement.

Patriot: Rigid Models - Linkage Mounted

Tines + Discs + Press
Versatile Combination Cultivator

The Patriot rigid cultivator is a versatile combination machine that brings together loosening tines, high-performance discs, and a press unit in one robust package. Designed for deep soil working, effective mixing, and reliable consolidation, it adapts to a wide range of conditions while delivering a consistent seedbed finish.

Tines up front

Rigid loosening tines set at 600mm centres can work between 150mm (6) and 400mm (16) deep as required. Depth is controlled by pin adjustment on the rear press. QUICKFOOT™, one piece with point, wing and shin assembly fixing as standard. Options – Our original Level Lift™ point, wing, shin system or quick foot light.

Discs following tines

Two rows of 500mm (20“) diameter disc units, each with maintenance free bearing. Units are mounted individually on rubber suspension at 250mm (6”) centres. The disc sub-frame assembly is quickly adjusted hydraulically for working depth on the move. Further adjustment by turnbuckle enables the disc sub-frame to be tipped for and aft to vary the bias to balance tilling action.

Press Rings at the back

Patented Razor rings (650mm diameter) control the overall depth of tillage and leaves a firmed “weather proof” corrugated finish. Standard spacing 200mm (8“), optional spacing 150mm (6”). Further options 610mm (24“) toothed packer or 610mm (24”) coil (50mm x 50mm x 6mm box section). Pin adjustment for depth. Adjustable scrapers.

Patriot: Folding Models - Trailed

Tines + Discs + Press

Cousins’ Patriot combination cultivators give up to 5.6 metres of working width with loosening legs at 600mm centres, followed by two rows of discs, the company’s new patented 810mm (32”) diameter Razor Rings and a pair of low ground pressure transport wheels.

Following the success of the company’s 3m Patriot cultivator, the range has been expanded to include folding models offering greater working widths. The new range is offered in 4.2 and 5.6 options, all folding to within the 3m road transport standard.

The rigid loosening legs can be set to work between 150mm (6”) and 400mm (16”) deep. Cousins own ‘Quickfoot’ one piece bolt points are fitted as standard with ‘Level Lift’ and other points also available.

Like Cousins’ original 3m Patriot these models feature hydraulically controlled disc sub-frames that can be adjusted to the desired working depth while on the move. Front gangs can be set more or less aggressively relative to the rear according to the soil conditions.

The 500mm (20”) diameter disc blades are mounted on hubs with greasable taper roller bearings. The units are individually mounted on rubber suspension at 125mm (5”) centres.

Following the discs is the 810mm (32”) diameter HL Razor Ring Packer. The packer uses the patented construction of the already well established 650mm diameter model. The ‘over sized’ 610mm (24”) axle tube contacts the ground, allowing the new packer to support a high load, whilst maintaining consistent depth control. It leaves a firmed, level and ‘weatherproof’ corrugated finish.

Depth control is maintained by using swing over washers on the front drawbar ram and pin adjustment of the rear 810mm HL Razor Ring Packer. A new self levelling drawbar ensures the removable towing hitch is parallel to the ground at all times.

For transport the machine is fitted with 10 stud braked wheel assemblies, fitted with 600mm wide ‘flotation’ tyres.
